When you walk into your home, what's the first thing you see? Is it a blank wall? Or a hand-me-down table that you really don't like, but aren't sure how to make into something you'll love?
There are always going to be areas in your home that get put on your to-do list. Areas that you'll get around to when you have the time/money/energy to tackle them. That's completely fine for the upstairs guest room that might get used a couple times a year, but for your foyer it's not so practical.
When a visitor walks into your home, the entryway is the first place where they can get a glimpse of your style. Even if every other room in your house isn't exactly how you'd like it, visitors will see the look you're going for and be able to envision the rest of the house in the same style.
Not only will a fantastic entryway impress your guests, but it will also make you happier. (I'm serious!) Having at least one place in your home that you feel really reflects your personal style will make your home feel more comfortable and set the tone for the rest of the house. I'm 100% supportive of saving up and slowly going room by room, but that's why I always recommend starting at the very beginning (a very good place to start..."The Sound of Music"...anyone?).
The best thing about foyers is that they don't have to be expensive. Decide on how you're going to use the space (i.e. storage, decorative, both...) and go from there. If you want to work with what you have, take a walk through the spray paint aisle. A coat of paint and new hardware does wonders for that old hand-me-down furniture. Add a couple fun accessories and some artwork and you're done!
If you're stumped and not sure where to start, I'm happy to help! Check out my Services page for more info. I can help makeover the furniture you already own, or help you source a piece to add to what you have. Remember, there's no reason not to have an amazing entryway!
